Gaudí invites players into the vibrant world of Antoni Gaudí where art, nature and architecture converge in a deeply strategic board game. In this game you guide your creative journey through the life and work of the iconic Catalan architect. From the moment play begins you will balance three thematic pillars that shaped Gaudí’s designs; nature, Catalonia, and religion, as you build patterns of ‘trencadís’ tiles and play cards to earn victory points while maintaining balance between these core aspects.
On each turn players will move around a central chandelier mechanism on the main board choosing actions that let them draw cards acquire trencadís tiles or advance on their personal boards. Trencadís tiles represent shards of coloured ceramic and their placement on your tableau contributes to scoring and opens up further opportunities for card plays. Cards themselves provide abilities resources and point opportunities but managing them effectively requires foresight because they interact with the game state and with each other in nuanced ways.
Play unfolds over three rounds and each round ends once all players have completed a full circuit of the board. This repeated cycle encourages careful planning because the sequence of actions you take and the timing of your choices affect how well you can exploit opportunities. At the end of the third round players tally up their points from trencadís placement card synergies and balances among the three thematic pillars. Only the two lowest pillar scores count so balancing your progress between nature Catalonia and religion is crucial to success.
