You are immersed in the role of Celtic chieftains struggling for dominance over a mythic island shaped by clans, conflict, and ancient tradition. Each game unfolds across a modular landscape of territories that gradually grows and changes, creating a living map where alliances shift and ambitions collide.

Play revolves around a drafting system that gives every decision real weight. At the start of each round, players draft action cards that determine everything they can do, from moving clans and exploring new land to initiating battles or expanding their influence through sanctuaries and citadels. Because cards are drafted openly, you are constantly reading opponents, anticipating their plans, and deciding when to push forward or hold back.

Conflict in Inis is tense but controlled. Battles are not about wiping opponents off the map, but about leverage, timing, and negotiation. Combat cards are limited, retreats are often wise, and clever positioning can matter more than brute force. This creates a game where confrontation feels meaningful rather than chaotic, and where diplomacy can be just as powerful as aggression.

Victory is achieved through three possible conditions. Dominating territories, spreading your clans widely, or holding sacred sites can all lead to success. The twist is that these conditions can overlap, be contested, and even change hands at the last moment. It is entirely possible for multiple players to be on the brink of winning at the same time, which keeps tension high until the very end.

Inis is deeply interactive and rewards players who adapt rather than commit too early to a single plan. When the game ends, it leaves behind the feeling that the island’s story could have unfolded in countless other ways.
