Love Letter
Love Letter is a compact game of risk, deduction and bold gambits set in a royal court where influence is everything. In this classic edition presented in an eco-friendly tuck box, players compete to deliver their letter to the Princess while outmanoeuvring rivals through clever card play and careful reading of the table.
Each round begins with every player holding a single card. On your turn you draw one card and choose which of your two cards to play, resolving its effect immediately. Every character in the deck has a unique ability that either gathers information, protects you, forces discards or eliminates opponents. Because you only ever hold one card at the end of your turn, every decision carries weight. Play aggressively and you may remove competitors early. Play cautiously and you may survive long enough to claim victory.
The deck contains only sixteen cards, which creates a remarkably tight and tense experience. Players must track which cards have been played, calculate probabilities and judge whether opponents are bluffing or holding something powerful. A single misstep can knock you out of the round, but quick rounds mean you are never waiting long to rejoin the action.
The game ends when one player remains or when the deck runs out, at which point the highest value card wins the round. Players collect tokens of affection, and the first to reach the required number wins the game.
Designed for two to six players and lasting around twenty minutes, Love Letter delivers elegant simplicity, high replay value and satisfying moments of deduction in a beautifully minimal package.
