In High Society, players compete to acquire the finest trappings of wealth through a series of tense auctions. Elegant luxuries, valuable status symbols, and influential connections are all available to the highest bidder. At the same time, scandal, debt, and misfortune lurk among the deck, ready to punish careless spending and reckless ambition.
This new Allplay edition modernises Reiner Knizia’s classic auction game with updated presentation and several new cards designed specifically for this release. New auction opportunities and fresh twists create additional moments of tension while preserving the elegant decision-making that has made High Society a favourite for decades.
Each player begins with an identical set of money cards and must carefully decide when to bid aggressively and when to hold back. During an auction, players raise the stakes using their remaining funds, permanently spending any money they commit. Winning valuable cards can increase your status and improve your final score, but every coin spent leaves you with fewer options later in the game.
The challenge comes from balancing short-term gains with long-term survival. Spending heavily may secure the most prestigious cards, yet the player who finishes the game with the least money remaining is immediately eliminated from contention. Even a seemingly dominant collection can be rendered worthless if you have exhausted your fortune in the process.
