Kobayakawa
Kobayakawa is a compact card game of bluffing and reading your opponents. Every round, players receive a single card and must decide whether to keep it or exchange it for a card from the central row. The challenge is simple. At the end of the round, the player with the highest card wins the money wagered by the group. The problem is that one special card can change everything.
The Kobayakawa card sits in the centre of the table and weakens the strongest hand. At the end of each round, its value is added to the lowest card in play. If that boosted total exceeds the highest card, the weakest player unexpectedly wins instead. A seemingly unbeatable hand can suddenly lose, while a low card can become a surprise victor.
Before the winner is determined, players must also decide whether to stay in the round by contributing money to the pot. Choosing to bet increases the potential reward, but it also means risking your own coins if your prediction is wrong. Players must constantly judge whether their card is strong enough to justify the gamble.
Because only a small amount of information is visible, much of the game revolves around interpreting the decisions of others. Why did a player exchange their card? Why did someone choose to bet confidently? Is the strongest card really safe, or is the Kobayakawa card about to overturn everything?
