Mozaik
Mozaik
Players piece together a strange and beautiful collage of images and ideas, building connections between dreamlike illustrations and carefully chosen words. Every round feels like assembling fragments of a mysterious puzzle where intuition, creativity and timing all matter equally.
Across nine rounds, players gradually construct a personal 3x3 grid of illustrated cards. Around the edges of this grid sit word cards that score points when they meaningfully connect with the images in their matching row or column. Some words are broad and flexible while others are difficult to satisfy but worth far more points if used cleverly.
Each round begins with players simultaneously selecting an image card from their hand and revealing it together. The number on the chosen card determines turn order, with lower values acting first. This creates an excellent layer of tension throughout the game. Choosing the perfect image for your grid might leave you acting too late to secure the word card you really wanted. Playing conservatively can guarantee a safer choice, but may weaken your final scoring opportunities.
As grids slowly fill, players constantly reassess how their images interact with surrounding words. A single placement can suddenly create several satisfying thematic links across multiple rows and columns. The game rewards observation and lateral thinking more than strict logic, which makes every completed tableau feel personal and unique.
Despite the thoughtful puzzle at its core, Mozaik remains approachable and quick to teach. Turns are fast and everyone stays engaged because card reveals happen simultaneously. The surreal artwork also gives the game a warm and curious atmosphere that encourages conversation and interpretation around the table.
Solo players can also tackle dedicated puzzle challenges that transform the game into a relaxing brain teaser focused on finding the ideal arrangement.
