Shackleton Base Below. Within. Above. invites players back to the rim of the Shackleton crater on the Moon in a new expansion that builds on the strategic foundation of the core game. In this expansion players will encounter three fresh corporations and one new space agency each bringing unique abilities and options that change both how you plan your actions and how you score at the end of a campaign.

The expansion is designed to integrate seamlessly with the base game’s worker placement and variable setup system. Each corporation adds its own special projects, objectives and opportunities that alter the strategic landscape on every playthrough. Lunar City encourages players to welcome civilian settlers to the lunar colony, giving you new ways to score and new demands on your resources. Undermoon adds a deeper focus on excavation and expansion below the surface of your existing base which can open up new action spaces and tactical choices. Zenith Works introduces cooperative infrastructure builds that can benefit all players if coordinated well.

On their turn players will still move through the familiar three phases of a round from the core game. They choose shuttles and astronauts in the shuttle phase, take actions such as deploying workers to score resources or activate corporation abilities in the action phase, and then shift placements into maintenance roles to gather income and pay upkeep. With the expansion’s content each of these steps gains new wrinkles that enhance replayability while still feeling familiar to fans of the original.

Below. Within. Above. plays best with the core game and is balanced for one to four players aged fourteen and up. It preserves the strategic depth and thematic engagement of building a lunar base while adding fresh decision points and variety. When a session ends players will leave the table feeling like they have explored new facets of lunar colonisation and corporate competition against the stark and compelling backdrop of the Moon. 300+ words
